History of Gyrometric Systems Ltd

Gyrometric Systems Ltd is a technological Spin out company from Nottingham Trent University.
The IME (Incremental Motion Encoder), which is the basis of the technology in the company, was invented by the Technical Director of the Company, Dr Paul Orton, as a solution to a measurement problem in a research project within the University. The invention is the subject of a number of granted patents, and patent applications.
The IME is capable of measuring radial shaft displacement in X and Y planes to an accuracy of one micron at speeds from 15 rpm up to 20,000 rpm.
The Company was founded within the campus in 2007, and moved out to the Nottingham Science and Technology Park early in 2009 as a fully commercial organisation. Initial development capital has been provided by the Lachesis Fund.
